The Australian stock market blew up this week, climate research took another whack, politicians continued to fall flat on their faces with their feet in their mouths, but one great good thing happened at Queensland Zoo – Kaitlyn the Sumatran Tiger gave birth to two cubs. Kaitlyn is really doing her bit for her glorious species, having had two  cubs, Hunter and Clarence, in 2013.

There are only about 500 Sumatran tigers left in the wild.  Gert has a modest proposal: what about ramping up the breeding of tigers and winding down the breeding of humans to a more sustainable ratio – say 100:1 in favour of the tiger?
