For the enjoyment of idiots

File:Book of Leinster, folio 53.jpg

The scribe who copied the 12th century manuscript of Gaelic literature and mythology known as The Book Of Leinster warned his readers:

Do not credit the details of the story, or fantasy. Some things in it are devilish lies. And some poetical figments. Some seem possible. And others not. And some are for the enjoyment of idiots.

What a blurb this would have been for any of Gert’s books!
