Dusk in winter

Dusk in winter

The sun sets in the cold without friends

Without reproaches after all it has done for us

It goes down believing in nothing

When it is gone I hear the stream running after it

It has brought its flute it is a long way

  1. I’m not familiar with him, but as I go along, the number of people with whom I am not acquainted grows vaster by the day. For every new person I read, there are ten more I haven’t read, so they increase exponentially.

  2. I was going to say it looks a lot like here in winter in the picture . It goes well with the poem. I’m not familiar with Merwin either.

          1. Most recently The Sarah showed up at the White House for dinner with Trump, with a few friends (very conservative). Someone else (a Trump donor) has apparently gotten the Canada job. No idea whether Sarah will ever get anything official, or whether she’ll spend the remaining time that Trump has in office being a vocal supporter. Seems as if she and Fox already parted ways, so Bill O’Reilly’s departure doesn’t necessarily leave any room for her there. But she’s clearly not ready to be counted out. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/20/us/politics/sarah-palin-kid-rock-ted-nugent-white-house.html

            1. Not to worry swo8 — as noted above, she will not be the ambassador to Canada — or possibly (probably) anywhere else. As Gert says, she may be doing even better on her own, and with more freedom to say what she thinks.

                    1. Is that the AP interview? i was just reading it a few minutes ago. Loved the bit where he said he doesn’t watch CNN any more (fake news) and the interviewer said, “But you just said you did”. “When?” “Two minutes ago.”

Interesting in his comment on the “fake polls” that show his poor popularity that they also contain some “good” things. I’m beginning to think that his appealis something to do with the fact that most of us are just as illogical. We believe the bits we want to and the rest is fake. So it’s fine for him to say things like that.
