The first performance of Ross Edwards’ Dawn Mantras was given on the sails of the Sydney Opera House at dawn on January 1st 2000.
Start your new year by listening to it at dawn by the sea or on a mountain.
And/or…. follow this Icelandic Christmas Eve suggesstion sent to us by one of our spotters, who knows what we like:
Happy New Year to you both ladies and to your families.
What an excellent tradition to spend your time reading and eating chocolates.

Happy New Year, Leslie. I hope you aren’t frozen solid. The temperatures we’re hearing from Canada are just unimaginable to us.
It’s so frigging cold they’ve cut the celebrations short tonight. We’ve made our toast already. Cheers to 2018.
Leslie
I’ll send you a little packet of sun.
The sun has arrived but you need to send some warmth.
Happy New Year Gert!
I remember that Sydney Opera House performance. Ross Edwards is one of my favourite Australian composers. I don’t know about reading and eating chocolates all night, but I’m glad to report that our dogs survived the fireworks. (The fireworks wouldn’t be so bad if people stuck to public places and didn’t let them off in their backyards.)
And I’m sure you didn’t let your dog eat any chocolates, though perhaps he could be allowed a book or two.
Happy New Year to you Dorothy. Are you swimming today?
I listened to the Dawn Mantras in leafy Laburnum at 11.30am. Will that do? Lovely anyway. (I have a couple of chocolates left).
Happy New Year Gert
And to you, June.
