I had a dream, which was not all a dream.
The bright sun was extinguish’d, and the stars
Did wander darkling in the eternal space,
Rayless, and pathless, and the icy earth
Swung blind and blackening in the moonless air,
Morn came and went-and came and brought no day,
And men forgot their passions in the dread
Of this their desolation ;and all hearts
Were chill’d into a selfish prayer for light:
And they did live by watchfires -and the thrones,
The palaces of crowned kings -the huts,
The habitations of all things which dwell,
Were burnt for beacons; cities were consum’d,
And men were gathered round their blazing homes
……………..DARKNESS by LORD BYRON
Over 200 years ago, in 1816 Lord Byron was envisaging an environmental catastrophe. The one we are experiencing in Australia now is of a different order. The sun has not gone out, but thousands of hectares of land have been destroyed by fire. ‘It is estimated that most of the range and population of between 20 and 100 threatened species will have been burnt.’ ( The Conversation)
Something has to change
I was going to say that it sounds eerily like what’s going on today. We will adapt but it won’t be easy. Take care there.

The way to proceed is the big topic here at present. But as to whether the politicians have any clue. Who knows?
And there are still conspiracy theorists, politicians and idiots who say talk of a climate emergency is fake news. Somehow they don’t seem to live anywhere directly affected by unnatural disasters. ☹️
Pretty hard to avoid here. Yesterday Melbourne had the worst air quality in the world.
Yes, I heard it affected the Australian Open. So sorry.
We almost emigrated when I was a child. I’ve always felt that I had a parallel life there some way. I’ve watched the news and it is dreadful.
It is frightening and the long term effects will not be fully realised for some time.
